Join us Thursday evening, November 9, at Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant in Galveston for a showing of the new film, How the Texas Navy Saved the Revolution, presented by Past President Bill Turner of the Texas Navy Association (TNA). The 22-minute film was produced by the TNA as a resource for teachers in presenting the role of the Texian Navy during the Revolution in 1835-36, that was recently added to the required curriculum for Seventh Grade Texas History. The film was produced with guidance K-12 social studies educators to convey critical, core concepts in a way that would be most effective for middle school students. It’s an outstanding resource that the TNA will be working to distribute to educators across the state over the next year.

The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet and cash bar at 5:30 p.m. (earlier time than usual), with dinner and a Hawkins Squadron Business Meeting at 6:30. The evening will conclude with Adm. Turner’s presentation and showing the film at about 7:30. Attendees can order from the regular Fisherman’s Wharf menu, and will be responsible for purchasing their own food and drinks. Those wanting to attend should RSVP to Adm. Butch Spafford, (409) 239-three one eight two, or by e-mail to admspafford-at-gmail-dot-com
