Welcome aboard the website of the Charles E. Hawkins Squadron, an affiliated squadron of the Texas Navy Association. The squadron is based in Galveston, Texas and was formally commissioned on September 17, 2016. The squadron meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Meetings often feature guest speakers discussing a range of historical topics, and are open to the public. The Hawkins Squadron also participates in a number of commemorative and educational events, including Texian Navy Day in September.
The Charles E. Hawkins Squadron is honored to have the support of the Waterman Restaurant at Pirate’s Cove, where the Squadron holds its bi-monthly meetings. With the most spectacular sunset view on the island, the Waterman Restaurant offers everything needed for that special get away dining experience. Expansive outdoor decks overlooking the Galveston Bay along with the finest seafood available makes the Waterman an experience that you don’t want to miss.
The Texas Navy Association is a private, 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to preserving and promoting the historical legacy of the naval forces of the Republic of Texas, 1835-45.
