A New Admiral

On Thursday evening at Rosenberg Library, the Charles E. Hawkins Squadron had the honor of hosting the commissioning of the Texas Navy’s newest Admiral, Captain Frank Dietz of Brazoria County. Captain Dietz, a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, holds a 100-ton Master’s License and operates a retired 82-foot Coast Guard Patrol Boat, that he uses with the Sea Scouts program to enable scouts to meet their qualifications. He also operates the 60-foot sternwheel paddleboat Yellowstone on the San Bernard River in Brazoria County. Yellowstone and Captain Dietz appear in the recent Texas Navy Association production, How the Texas Navy Saved the Revolution, which is distributed for free use by educators across the state.
