Please join us this coming Thursday, November 12 at 1800, for the next Hawkins Squadron Meeting. This meeting will be held online via Zoom, with login details below.

Our guest will be April Michalski, Admissions Director for Elite Pipe Welding Academy in Houston. April has an Associates Degree in Behavioral Science is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in American History. April is a veteran of the United States Air Force and Army and was one of the first women in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C. She served as a Military Police while in the Army. April has a diverse professional background including politics, entrepreneurship, and marketing. Ms. Michalski is a mother to five amazing children and two grandchildren. She moved to Texas in February of 2019, following the suicide of her brother in March 2018, Leonard Michalski, a Texas resident and 30-year US Army Combat Helicopter Veteran. Leonard was a long sufferer of PTSD from his 10 years of combat overseas as well as childhood PTSD.
After her brother’s death, April started speaking publicly about suicide and has made it her life’s mission to de-stigmatize the subject of suicide in spreading suicide awareness. She talks openly and honestly about her struggle with depression and a failed suicide attempt as well as surviving the fallout from her brother’s death and how his death transformed her life. Currently, April is working on starting a non-profit, Lenny’s Love Foundation, and writing a book about her and her brother’s childhood. She hopes by publicly speaking about suicide awareness she can spread hope, understanding, and most of all love that her brother’s life encompassed.
This is a tremendously important subject, one that is not sufficiently recognized. Please join us for this presentation. Participation is limited to 100 online attendees.
