“Set the Watch!”

On Saturday, June 10, a commissioning ceremony was held in Galveston for the newest Littoral Combat Ship in the U.S. Navy, USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS-10).

In addition to Former Representative Giffords and her husband, Captain Mark Kelly, dignitaries present included U.S. Representative Randy Weber of the Fourteenth Texas,  Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Former Vice President Joe and Dr. Jill Biden, the ship’s sponsor, and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. It was quite a star-studded event, to say the least.

The best advice of the day came from the new ship’s CO, Commander Keith Woodley, who said in his remarks, “you have to stop talking before they stop listening.” (It was hot, y’all.)

Present at the event from the TNA were Admirals Art Wilcox, Dennis Miller, Paula Morris, and Andy Hall. It was a great day.
